Knowledge of key areas of speaking proficiency will be developed during this course, and students be will encouraged to talk naturally and fluently. This course will also introduce you to essential speaking strategies that will enable you to engage fully in different situations.

A series of teacher training workshops suitable for a range of non-native English teaching experience: pre-service, new in-service or experienced teachers. The sessions are designed to develop trainees' and teachers' knowledge of three key areas: methodology, language and theory, and encourage them to actively reflect on their own prior learning and experience. This course is ideal for in-service and in-house professional development programs.

The content originates from a range of input sessions delivered on CELTA and Trinity Cert courses as well as a number of professional development workshops for teacher training.

Course Description:

This course is designed to improve learners’ communication in English in professional and business contexts. On this course, learners will develop their English language skills through specially designed tasks to aid communication in a number of real-life situations such as: telephone conversations, business negotiations, sending emails, job interviews, networking and giving professional presentations. Through these tasks learners will deepen their understanding of English and improve their ability to communicate appropriately in a professional environment. In addition, learners will widen their vocabulary relevant to their professional field and improve their use of appropriate language.


Entry requirement for this course:

English language above A2, Digital literacy, Degree or Background qualification etc.


Learning Outcomes (What students should be able to when they complete the course):

1-Students will be able to introduce themselves and present their field of expertise in a succinct and intelligible manner

2-Students will be able to prepare written job applications using appropriate language

3-Students will be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English in a variety of situations (eg making an appointment, resolving a problem)

4-Students will be able to design and deliver and effective presentation

This module uses a task-based learning approach to help students develop their English in specific professional contexts. The classes will consist of a variety of interactive activities based around the class topic, including role plays, presentations and dialogues.
